To acquaint students with scholastic journals, texts and other resources within a specific field or topic of interest. ? To familiarize students with human rights issues ? To expose students to international adherence to the Declaration of Human Rights ? T acquaint students with a variety of human rights remedies ? To develop an expression of thought through writing. Topic: 1.) Find a case of Human Rights Violations on social media. Make sure you choose a case that contains enough information and facts so that you can answer the required questions. The violation can be an individual or group, local, national, or international, but must be a violation of one of the Declarations of Human Rights, NOT a Constitutional Violation. 2.) Copy and paste the URL, or write out the source in APA format, to include in your bibliography. 3.) Construct an Informational Infographic about your chosen human rights violation. Infographic format (100 points- 75 points for the infographic and 25 points for presentation). Provide a presentation of your human rights violation and case study, including the following information. You can use a PPT or Prezi for the presentation, but you will only be graded on the fact that you present and the infographic submitted. Your presentation should include the following: (1) Case study-brief synopsis of the case study that you chose to illustrate the human rights violation- who / what/ why /when/ where/ how? (2) Which section(s) of the Declaration of Human Rights does it violate? It will likely apply to more than just one, so please discuss 2 or 3 UDHR violations from your chosen case (Include which # violation and what the violates states) (3) References- APA format and include any sources of information that you used to construct the infographic. Your infographic should include the following: (1) What is the issue? (The violation of human rights) + Include consequences of the human rights violation for the target-long term and short-term. [20 points] (2) Include graphs and charts to display your data: what is the prevalence of the issue? In the U.S.? In another country? Who/which group is most often targeted regarding the issue? Is this behavior illegal? If so, what is the law regarding the issue? What is the punishment for the issue? [30 points] (3) Which 2 or 3 Human Rights are violated by the issue? [10 points] (4) Briefly include a policy that could be used to decrease the occurrence of the human rights violation.
